La Manga is a fishing village north of the San Carlos area. The people living in this town of a few hundred people did not have any school facilities available to them nor transportation to a school. The San Carlos club, along with help from other Rotary clubs, built the school shown below along with a kindergarten facility. Since that time, the club has maintained the school and provided upgrades with the help from the Tucson clubs and the Murray, Utah club. This year the school was painted, and a local artist helped the students paint their own mural on the side of the building |

Another problem for the La Manga community is water. In the past, the villagers would have to walk about a 1/4 mile to obtain water. Again, the Rotary clubs provided help by drilling a well close to the village and installing a manual pump. Later a storage tank was added to facilitate the use of the well. This last year, with the help of the Tucson Rotary Clubs, a windmill was installed along with two large storage tanks (not shown) to provide the village with a continuous water supply. |
